The position
The Business and Research Analyst will be responsible for providing technical and analytical support to Consultants, Trainers and other Researchers, conducting primary and secondary research and producing reports, presentations, articles, etc. for the purpose of helping our organisation grow, sustain our business and support our clients. He or she will also be tasked with providing support upon request to other key business units within the company as directed. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. We are looking for a dynamic individual who will work on various assignments. Our Company is a small start-up and the role offers significant growth potential. This role requires flexibility, versatility, entrepreneurialism and creativity. Ability to work well independently, in isolation and not necessarily in an office environment is an important requirement, as is the ability to travel. Key Acticity/Result Areas
- Undertake primary and secondary research.
- Map organisational resources, business strategy, operations and supply/value chain
- Research and consultation activities including telephone interviews, one-on-one /one-to-many interviews, questionnaire design, survey development, etc.
- Initial analysis of research findings for draft reports and deliverables to managers and/or clients.
- Preparation of, and assistance with, the development of company proposals, draft reports and key subject briefs including content review and preparation, formatting and presentation enhancement.
- Liaison with various networks/organizations as determined from time to time for specific projects and / or business unit areas.
- Act as a specialist in key areas of business interests including business and market research and related issue tracking and analysis.
- Resource for the technical aspects of projects and activities.
- Assist in developing research and undertaking analysis across the Company product/project portfolio.
- Conduct supplier and industry assessments, identifying and evaluating potential suppliers.
- Analyze stakeholder engagement and provide scenario analyses.
- Produce data to support product and/or business development.
- Manage proposals, contracts, and relationships with vendors to acquire the appropriate information to be able to develop forecasting models.
- Assist with business plan development.
- Assist with research and project management of programs conducted for the Business Units, e.g. Strategy implementation.
- Provide support in managing and delivering research, consultancy and training projects
- Provide quantitative data analysis and data visualization for use in data based decision making.
- Research existing data collections, compilations, and/or reporting methodologies
- Write and publish detailed reports, article, white papers, books, etc.
- Assist the company in developing/maintaining/updating databases and periodical reports.
- Provide training to clients and or other analysts/trainees as required.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements specific to this position
- 2 years minimum experience with Business Analysis and/or Research
- Industry experience: Oil & Gas (preferred), Manufacturing, Consulting, Research, Education & Training
- In depth knowledge of data collection, analysis and validation
- In-depth knowledge of statistical data analysis and mathematical modelling
- Broad knowledge of business intelligence tools and approaches
- Ability to reduce complex problems into smaller, easier to handle research/analysis questions
- Ability to design proper analysis/research projects
- Ability to handle all projects from start to finish with little or no supervision
- Ability to interact effectively with customers to interpret needs and produce sound research/analysis reports.
- Broad and competent working knowledge of and experience with ICT as used in data analysis (technical ICT knowledge is not necessary).
- High level of expertise with software that facilitates the design of instruction (storyboards, flow charts, assessments, etc.).
- The ability to confidently design, plan and deliver workshops and presentations to various stakeholders.
- Ability to train others on business/data analysis
Genera requirements
Education:
- Minimum: post-graduate degree
Work Experience:
- 2+ years experience
- Business consulting and/or training experience
- Research experience
- Demonstrated experience working in a non-structured, fast-paced, challenging and ever-changing work environment
- International experience.
- Industry experience: Oil & Gas (preferred), Manufacturing, Consulting, Research, Education & Training
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project etc.
- Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Strong research and analytical skills including ability to evaluate and integrate information from a variety of sources.
- Proficient with web and literature searches, synthesising analysing data.
- Ability to identify issues and to use sound judgment in applying technical expertise to resolve a wide range of problems
- Ability to anticipate and plan for the requirements of a particular task and to execute the task in a timely manner.
- Outstanding communication (spoken and written) skills, including the ability to draft/edit a variety of written reports and communications with excellent spelling, grammar and punctuations and to articulate ideas in a confident, clear and concise style.
- Experience in using databases and electronic repositories to carry out research/find information.
