
The 3rd Nordic Outsourcing Workshop NOW2008
NOW2008, the 3rd annual Nordic Outsourcing Workshop was held in Inverness, Scotland, Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th of May, 2008 (download the call for papers). Read the testimonials left by the attendees.
The aim of the event was to provide a forum for people currently involved in outsourcing and offshoring related research.
The workshop was a great success, with 12 Universities represented from Norway, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, UK, and Italy:
Prof. Bob Cormack, Principal of UHI Millennium Institute gave the opening speech, describing the development plans for the University of the Highlands and Islands.
Steve Chisholm, director of Carisma RCT and CEO of Alchemy Plus, followed with a presentation about the Future of IT Outsourcing.
15 papers were presented in total, covering a range of outsourcing-related topics: from decision making to knowledge transfer, software development to the role of ICT in outsourcing, back-office outsourcing, etc. Read the full workshop programme.
The Best Paper award for papers discussing IT applications in outsourcing, was presented by Alchemy Plus Ltd. to Zoran Perunovic, Mads Christoffersen, and Jorgen Lindgard Pedersen, from the Danish Technical University, for their paper "Application of Information Technology in Outsourcing; a Vendor's Perspective".
The Best Overall Paper award presented by Strategic Outsourcing, an International Journal to Michael W. Hansen, Bent Petersen and Peter Wad, from Copenhagen Business School, for their article "Change of subsidiary mandates in emerging markets - The case of Danish MNC's in South India"
Runner up for the Best Overall Paper was Xiaohong Li and Ian Barnes, from Sheffield Hallam University, for their article: "Proactive supply risk management methods for building a robust supply chain selection process when sourcing in emerging markets"
